Introducing Our Department's Distinctive Programs
Distinctive Program
- Busan Ilhyunka High School R&E Program InformationA full-time professor in the Department of Mathematics continues to participate as a supervising professor in the "Research and Education (R&E) Program," a program to strengthen the research capabilities of students at the local Busan Ilhyang High School, which opened in 2012. The reason for their participation as advisor professors is for the development of the local community and to secure future enrollment, especially since many of our professors who are geographically closest to the school were requested to participate by Busan JCU, and we requested the participation of the mathematics professors who are most in demand. 2018 and 2019, Professors Park Sang-won and Yoon Jung-eun participated in the program, and each year one supervising professor is in charge of two pairs of students to teach them, and the program is currently continuing until 2023.
- Basic Math Camp to be held in 2020The Department of Mathematics has been supported by the Busan Science and Technology Council, an incorporated association, with a project cost of 3 million won, and the project is ongoing until now in 2023 for middle school students interested in mathematics in Busan and neighboring areas under the theme of "Password Basics, Application, and Practical Training," with the dimensions of developing local communities and securing future students for admission. It is held every year, and several teachers and students participated in the education under the leadership of Professor Park Sang-won. The content of the education was to understand the concept of passwords used in daily life, and through this, through lectures and practical training on the basic understanding of passwords and the relationship between mathematics and passwords, it served to induce students' interest in mathematics and improve their thinking ability.
- Program for the Advancement of the Humanities (CORE Program)The Department of Mathematics, together with the CORE Project, organized a special lecture to inform mathematics students about the role of big data in the international community from a humanities perspective. The international community and global official statistics share birth and development, and the order of the international community is maintained on the basis of global international statistics. International organizations are making sustained efforts to improve the quality of global statistics. The world itself and the way people want to see the world are continually changing, and the technology for viewing the world is continually developing, he told us.
- Coexistence Humanities Lecture Series. The Department of Mathematics, together with the CORE project group, informed the students of the Department of Mathematics about the meaning of coexistence and the rituals of life from a humanistic perspective. The main content of this special lecture is to argue that coexistence means that one cannot obtain the value of coexistence without incurring social and economic costs, and that it is a cost that must be paid, meaning that people act together as axes of interest. We revisited the rituals of life that make people the axis of interest and learned that these rituals are inherent in human life and are an integral part of humaneness.
- Colloquium held by the Department of Informatics and Mathematics, Faculty of Natural SciencesThe Department of Information Mathematics held a colloquium on April 11, 2023. The detailed contents of the colloquium included the construction of an industry-university cooperative fusion education model and the construction of a diffusion ICC cooperative fusion major and an education operation model specializing in employment and business startups, to guide students in the College of Natural Sciences to have diverse perspectives on their majors, to expand their perspectives on applications and uses of mathematics fields, and to broaden their career exploration in various ways. The theme of the event was. Solving Problems from Data - Mr. Jeong-Moon Lee, Deputy General Manager of Meritz Fire Company, came and gave a lecture. The main purpose and background of the lecture was to provide an understanding of the age of data as a mathematics major, to determine perspectives on the applications and uses of the field of mathematics, and to broaden the scope of one's career exploration.
- Management of the DAU Departmental Unit Student Community Competency Enhancement Program, College of Natural SciencesSince this is a Mensa Select instructor certification training program, rather than limiting it to this class, the Mensa board game can be equipped in the math department so that learners can practice and try out real-world play after the certification course is over, and even a rental (set duration, limited number of pieces) service can be provided to give students who are burdened with purchasing teaching equipment the opportunity to go borrow, practice and study the game.
